Mock inspections
Mock EHO Inspection — Birmingham & the Midlands
Your inspection is unannounced. Your rating is public. And once it's posted on the FSA register, it's there until the next visit. A mock inspection is the rehearsal. I walk your site the way an Environmental Health Officer will — delivery through to service — and tell you exactly what they'd score you on, while you can still fix it.
Target rating
Every inspection is scored toward a 4 or 5.
Fixed fee
£295
One-off, all inclusive. Half-day visit across Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Sandwell and the wider West Midlands.

Availability
Weekend visits, including Saturdays and Sundays
Environmental Health Officers work weekdays, and so do most consultants — which is exactly why a weekend visit tells you more. Saturday and Sunday service is when the kitchen is at full tilt: every fridge open, every section under pressure, agency staff in, and the shortcuts people take when they're busy on full display. That is the version of your kitchen worth scoring, so I book mock inspections across the weekend as readily as midweek.
Method
What happens on the day
- Walk-in and first impressions
- I arrive unannounced-style and start where an officer starts — the entrance, the state of the premises and what is visible before anyone tidies up.
- Delivery through to service
- We follow the food: goods-in, storage temperatures, prep, cooking, cooling, chilling, reheating, holding and service, looking for the points where control actually slips.
- Structure, cleaning and paperwork
- Layout, surfaces, handwashing, pest proofing, cleaning schedules, temperature records, training records and your HACCP or SFBB documentation.
- Scoring and debrief
- I score the site as an officer would across the three FHRS categories, then talk your team through the findings before I leave.
Deliverables
What you get
- A written report you can act on, not a tick-box sheet
- Scores against the three FHRS categories: Hygiene, Structural and Confidence in Management
- A prioritised action plan — what to fix today, this week and this month
- A staff debrief before I leave, so your team hears it first-hand
