About
Food safety advice built on manufacturing experience
Based in Birmingham, I work with food businesses across Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Sandwell and the wider West Midlands. 10+ years in food manufacturing technical roles, 50+ audits supported, and experience working to major UK retailer standards. I am not an Environmental Health Officer — and I don't pretend to be. I am a food scientist, helping operators meet manufacturing-grade standards without the manufacturing overheads.

Background
What I actually do
- 10+ years in technical & quality roles
- A decade inside UK food manufacturing technical teams — standards, systems, audits and the day-to-day reality of holding a site to them.
- 50+ audits supported
- Certification, retailer and customer audits — announced and unannounced — including BRCGS, SALSA and second-party retailer visits.
- Major UK retailer experience
- Holland & Barrett, Avara Foods and Kettle Foods — working to the standards that major UK retailers set for their suppliers.
- BSc (Hons) Food Science & Nutrition
- Degree-level grounding in food composition, preservation, nutrition and microbiology behind every recommendation.
Focus
Where I can help
- HACCP & food safety systems
- Plans written around real menus and flows, not templates.
- EHO readiness
- Mock inspections and rating recovery for restaurants, takeaways, cafés and food producers.
- Allergens & labelling
- Natasha's Law compliance, allergen matrices and cross-contact controls.
- Coverage
- Site visits across Birmingham, Solihull, Coventry, Wolverhampton, Walsall, Dudley, Sandwell and the wider West Midlands. Remote support available UK-wide.
Not an EHO
Why that distinction matters
An EHO enforces the law. I read the same guidance, audit your operation against the same standards, and help you close the gaps before they arrive. My job is to get you ready — not to sign off on behalf of the council.
That independence matters. I work for you, not the local authority, and my advice is practical rather than procedural. The food safety systems I build are designed to pass inspection, but more importantly they are designed to keep your customers safe and your kitchen running smoothly.

Manufacturing side
Manufacturing & retailer compliance
Alongside hospitality work I support food manufacturers and co-packers directly — BRCGS and SALSA preparation, retailer audit readiness, HACCP, VACCP and TACCP, and interim technical management when a site needs cover at short notice.

Tell me where you are — a booked-in EHO visit, a rating you need to fix, or allergens you are not confident in. No obligation, no jargon.
